SLLAG HARASSMENT POLICY
Effective Date: Friday, March 7th, 2025
Last Revised: Sunday, March 9th, 2025 - Kayla Richards
1. Purpose
SLLAG is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members. As a guild dedicated to female-identifying artists, we uphold the highest standards of respect, equity, and professional integrity. Harassment in any form will not be tolerated, including but not limited to harassment based on gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, age, religion, or any other protected characteristic. Two members of the crone council will be designated for the entirety of any event in case any concerns arise.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all members, visitors, employees, contractors, and participants in guild-sponsored events, including in-person, virtual, and online spaces. Guild members who bring guests into the space are responsible for that guest’s behavior.
3. Definition of Harassment
Harassment includes, but is not limited to, any unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, or physical conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
Examples include:
-
Unwanted sexual advances or comments
-
Offensive remarks regarding gender identity, race, ethnicity, disability, age, religion, or other protected characteristics
-
Bullying, intimidation, or threats
-
Unsolicited physical contact or invasion of personal space
-
Inappropriate use of imagery or language in artistic works, meetings, or communications
-
Online harassment, including cyberbullying or doxxing
4. Reporting Harassment
If a member experiences or witnesses harassment, they are encouraged to report the behavior as soon as possible. Reports can be made through any of the following channels:
-
Contacting a designated guild officer (e.g., Crone Council, Community Officer)
-
Emailing stlartguild@gmail.com
-
Submitting an anonymous report through our SLLAG Community Concerns form.
Reports will be handled promptly, confidentially, and with sensitivity to all parties involved. When utilizing the online report form, individuals should provide as much relevant detail as possible, including dates, times, locations, and any witnesses. Anonymous reports are accepted; however, providing contact information can assist in conducting a thorough investigation and resolving the complaint effectively. You may still wish to report something anonymously, for nothing other than possibly helping us establish patterns.
5. Investigation & Resolution
Upon receiving a report, the guild will:
-
Acknowledge receipt of the complaint.
-
Conduct a fair and impartial investigation.
-
Take appropriate action, which may include mediation, education, warnings, suspension, or expulsion from the guild or event.
-
Keep the reporting party informed of the resolution process while maintaining confidentiality.
Expectations for Outcomes
The guild is committed to taking all reports seriously; however, the ability to take direct action may depend on the nature of the complaint and the available evidence. Anonymous reports will be reviewed and investigated to the extent possible, but without direct communication with the complainant, resolution options may be limited. Non-anonymous reports allow for a more thorough investigation, including the possibility of mediation and direct corrective actions. While every effort will be made to address concerns, the resolution process may vary depending on the specifics of each case.
6. No Retaliation
The Guild strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who reports a safety concern or participates in an investigation. Confirmed retaliatory behavior will be subject to suspension, or expulsion from the guild.
7. Commitment to a Safe Environment
All members are expected to uphold this policy and contribute to a culture of respect. The guild may offer training sessions or discussions to reinforce anti-harassment principles.
8. Policy Review & Updates
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
For questions or additional guidance, please contact your Community Officer or another member of the Crone Council.
